Every year, hundreds of bright students lose their Sainik School selection because of OMR sheet mistakes. They know the answers but fill the OMR incorrectly. Here are the most common OMR mistakes and how to avoid them.

Common OMR Sheet Mistakes

1. Wrong question number: Students accidentally mark the answer for Question 15 in the bubble for Question 16. Once this happens, all subsequent answers shift by one position.

2. Incomplete bubbling: Students fill the bubble lightly or partially. The OMR scanner may not read it correctly.

3. Multiple bubbles: Filling two bubbles for one question. This is treated as a wrong answer.

4. Stray marks: Accidental pencil marks on the OMR sheet can be read by the scanner as answers.

5. Wrong set code: Not matching the question paper set (A, B, C, D) with the OMR sheet.

6. Erasing improperly: Using an eraser that leaves marks or tears the OMR sheet.

How to Avoid OMR Mistakes

1. Practice with real OMR sheets: Before the exam, practice filling OMR sheets at home. Use sample OMR sheets available online.

2. Fill in batches: Don't fill the OMR after every question. Solve 5-10 questions first, then fill the OMR in one go.

3. Cross-check question numbers: Before bubbling, always check that the question number on the OMR matches your answer sheet.

4. Use dark pencil: Use a good quality HB pencil. Fill the bubble completely and darkly.

5. Keep OMR clean: Don't rest your hand on the OMR sheet. Keep it away from water bottles and erasers.

6. Verify set code: Before starting, verify that your question paper set matches the OMR sheet set code.
