AMU Entrance Form 2027: Documents Checklist Before You Apply

The AMU Guide to Admissions (Schools) 2027-28 had not been released as of this date (CONFIRMED: checked the official admission portal amucontrollerexams.com on October 21, 2026) — so every date for the 2027 cycle below is EXPECTED, based on the 2026-27 cycle in which school application forms opened on January 15, 2026 and closed on February 15, 2026. The document rules, however, come from AMU's own admission guide and portal instructions and carry over year to year.

Every year, the AMU school entrance form itself is not what defeats parents — the documents are. The portal opens, roughly six weeks are available, and somewhere in that window a parent discovers the birth certificate is a hospital slip, the photos are the wrong size, or the marksheet copies are not self-attested. Unlike the exam, which can be prepared for, documents cannot be fixed in a weekend when a municipal office needs two weeks to issue a certificate. This checklist gives you the complete list of documents for the AMU school entrance form 2027 — for Classes 1, 6 and 9 — and tells you exactly what to prepare before the notification arrives.

The two stages where documents matter

AMU asks for documents twice, and the requirements are different each time. At the application stage, you fill the form online at amucontrollerexams.com and upload scanned copies: your child's photograph, signature, birth certificate, marksheet of the qualifying class and any special-category documents you claim. At the verification stage — after selection — you appear physically at the school with original documents plus specific numbers of self-attested photocopies. Most form rejections and admission headaches come from parents preparing for only one of these stages. Prepare for both.

The birth certificate deserves its own section

Of every document on the list, the birth certificate causes the most last-minute failures. AMU is unusually specific: the certificate must be issued under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act by a municipal corporation or municipality — a hospital birth slip, a discharge summary, or an age entry in the school register does not qualify. If your child's only age proof is from the school, start the municipal application now; municipal offices routinely take one to three weeks. Two self-attested photocopies are required at verification. Photo rules parents keep getting wrong

Two numbers matter: ten photographs, sized 2.5 x 3.0 cm, front-facing with a white background. This is smaller than the standard 3.5 x 4.5 cm passport size most studios print by default — ask the studio explicitly for the AMU size and get all ten in one visit. For the online upload, keep a JPG/JPEG scan of the photograph sized between 20 KB and 200 KB; AMU's portal rejects oversized files, and a phone photo of a photo will almost always exceed the limit. Scan the actual printed photograph or ask the studio for a digital file in the right size. Also scan your child's signature as a separate small JPG — the form asks for it, and a thumb-impression substitute is not the same thing.

The application fee and how to pay

In the 2026-27 cycle, the school application fee was Rs. 800 without late fee and Rs. 1,100 with late fee (per The Conceptum's AMU school admission page) — EXPECTED to be similar for 2027, but confirm the exact figure in Appendix I of the 2027-28 Guide before paying. Payment is online only: UPI, debit card, credit card or net banking. Two practical points: the fee is non-refundable, and the portal's payment receipt is a document in its own right — download and print the confirmation page after submission, because lost receipts are the most common "missing document" at the verification counter. A practical October-to-January document timeline

With the form EXPECTED to open around January 2027 (the 2026 cycle opened January 15), the calendar before you is generous — use it:

• October–November 2026: Order the municipal birth certificate if you do not have one. Gather both parents' photo IDs. Get the ten 2.5 x 3.0 cm photographs printed and the digital scan sized correctly.
• December 2026: Collect the qualifying marksheet (Class 5 / Class 8) with the school seal. Assemble category certificates if you will claim one. Keep a folder — physical and digital — with every scan under 200 KB.
• When the notification arrives (EXPECTED January 2027): Register at amucontrollerexams.com, fill the form with the document folder open beside you, upload, pay, and print the confirmation page the same day.
• After the merit list: Collect the transfer certificate from the current school, prepare the self-attested photocopies in the counts above, and carry originals to verification.
